Propelify Innovation Festival

One of the FIRST core values is impact, being active and helpful in the community. FRC is not just about building a robot to compete but going out into the community and helping to make a difference. Outreach has always been incredibly important to our team, we don’t just want to compete and think of nothing else, but actually, be active and kind to the great community in our area. On October 6th, our team went out to Hoboken, NJ, and showcased our Trashcan Robot at Propelify Innovation Festival!

Propelify is a festival where innovators from across the Northeast gather to hear from speakers and connect with startups and investors. It’s a place where ideas come to life, there were virtual reality, drones, and a bunch of incredible people sharing their startups and plans. Our team had a booth where we showcased the base robot that we have been working on as well as some other robots that members had worked on in the past and of course the Trashcan Robot. We were successful in getting the Trashcan Robot fully mobile in time for the event and so we drove it around the festival, collecting trash as we went.

It was great to be able to talk and meet with so many different people. Seeing how genuinely interested people were in the Trashcan Robot and in what we were doing as a team, in general, was great. We got to connect with people in different startups, founders and CEOs of different businesses, and students from colleges like NJIT and Stevens Institute of Technology. Overall, the event was a success. We had a great time and loved being able to learn and hear from innovators in our community.
